After its initial release in 1991(Tata Sierra Old), the Tata Sierra EV was finally launched at the 2023 Auto Expo. The car was very advanced and up-to-date at the time. The SUV is brand new in an old bottle. The last Sierra (1991–2023) was a three-door, but this time it comes in a proper five-door version. Also in the 1990s, the Tata Sierra was one of the most popular vehicles of that time. So Tata continues its legacy by first showcasing the TATA Sierra EV concept at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Sierra EV was not ready when it was showcased last time. It was three doors showcased earlier, but this time it is well represented by five doors. Also, the leather seats, futuristic cockpit, and dual-tone alloy wheels. Compliments overall look of Tata Sierra EV.

Exterior
The Tata Sierra EV will share the same platform on which most of their SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks are developed: ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced). Tata’s most popular Altroz Hatchback uses the same platform. ALFA is a very advanced structure developed by Tata. Most of their upcoming vehicles share the same platform, which is very flexible yet rigid.
EVO India reported that Martin Ulharik (Global Design Head, Tata Motors) says,
“Most people still identify that” (referring to the wraparound effect). That’s the signature of a Sierra, so you don’t have to write “Sierra” on the vehicle because everybody should be able to tell that it is one. “It’s such a unique DLO (daylight opening).”
The Sierra Electric SUV will measure 4.3 meters in length. The new Tata curvv will also have the same size. Curvv is India’s first coupe vehicle, which will be released soon. As we compare it to the existing SUVs by Tata, the Sierra will be closer to the size of the Tata Safari.
Interior
The interior of the Sierra EV is more welcoming and warm. There will be more space because the car will have five seating options. The length exceeds 4 meters. We feel stress-free once we enter the cabin because of the modern features that are connected to the environment. At the rear, the Tata is trying to make a lounge arrangement.
The wide window line makes it roomier yet refreshing. In addition, the signature Sierra with attached glass illuminates the interior. A wood-finish type of touch is used to address the car. The stitching is more advanced. The gear nob is also placed and designed smartly. The AC vents are also hidden in some places. The large panoramic sunroof complements the vehicle. Also notable is the large TFT display, which houses a plethora of Tata-connected apps.
Features
The Sierra Electric SUV comes with multi-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels, black cladding along its bottom edge, ADAS, automatic climate control, ventilated seats, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, an emergency stop system. and LED headlamps and taillamps.
Range
A Ziptron EV powertrain with a range of more than 400–500 km on a single charge is anticipated for the Tata Sierra EV.
Price
Tata Motors has studied the Indian market in recent years, as have Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Maruti Suzuki controls 44% of the automobile market. For many years, Hyundai and Tata have battled for second place. The Indians need a car that is within their budget. and come together with all of their desires. So Tata will not lose its customer demand. So, based on our estimates, the Tata Sierra EV price could be between 20 Lacks and 23 Lacks.
Launch
The Sierra EV is expected to be launched by December 2025. But still, the confirmation is not from TATA. It’s our prediction that it can be launched in 2025. But it can also somehow launch earlier, because the car showcased at Auto Expo 2023 was close to the production version. If Tata makes some changes, they will be close to the prototype.
Safety
The new Tata Sierra Electric is based on the ALFA ARC Flatform, which is flexible yet rigid and strong. Most of the Tata cars, like Altroz, Nexon, Tigo-Tigor, and the recently launched PUCNH, share the same platform and a Global NCAP rating of 5 stars. Tata uses high-quality shells in their products. Also, the Sierra Electric SUV will come with multiple airbags, full-suite ADAS technology, and ABS with EBD. This, like other Tata vehicles, is also secure.
