First, it was launched in 2002 (as the first generation Mahindra Scorpio). The Scorpio is the first-ever successful car that has ruled the Indian automobile market for more than 20 years and continues to do so. The car gets many facelifts. The first facelift in (2006–2009), the second in (2009–2014), the third in (2014–2022), and now Mahindra is selling the Scorpio Classic alongside the second generation (2022).
The SUV is so popular that Mahindra has no choice but to keep it. So, the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio Classic has arrived in a new avatar, carrying on its old legacy.

That’s all there is to its journey. Now let us talk about the key specifications of the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic 2023. The Scorpio Classic comes in a price range of 12.64 to 16.14 Lacks (ex-showroom). The SUV is powered by a 2.2 (2184 cc) litre mHAWK CRDI diesel engine. This engine has a fuel economy of 15 km/l. A maximum of 8–9 people can easily sit as you plan to go on a long trip or vacation. The Scorpio Classic has a seating option of seven with a two-jump seat rear configuration and a nine-seat model with all front-facing seats. Tyre size designation, including a 235/65 R17 ply rating with a radial tubeless type.
The vehicle is safe with a strong Mahindra steel ladder on the frame chassis. The body roll of the classic is less than the older one because of the tuning of the stiff suspension. The vehicle is covered by a 75,000-kilometer or 2-year warranty. It’s a mid-size SUV with dimensions of 4456 mm in length, 1820 mm in width, 1995 mm in height, and a ground clearance of 209 mm. The fuel tank capacity is 60 liters, and it comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Exterior
Mahindra continues the old charm of the vehicle with a new vehicle with some minor cosmetic changes to the overall design. The car is macho, bold, and muscular, as always. The front bumper is all new, with LED DRLs and a fog lamp, while the new front grille has the latest Mahindra Butterfly-type logo. The seven-slot chrome grill has the traditional Mahindra logo on it. The SUV is a new avatar that continues Mahindra’s old legacy in its modern avatar. The TRP of the vehicle’s boxy appearance and forward hood in its commanding position will be maintained.
On the side, you will notice the 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and side cladding on the door with Scorpio written on it. You will miss the mHawk badge and side indicators on ORVMs. On the rear, you will notice that the LED stop lamp above the defogger has been replaced with a small halogen lamp. The logo placed on the boot is not chrome but glossy black. The main attraction on the back is the long, double-barreled, vertical tail lamps. These were previously used but were phased out with some generations in 2014. But with the Scorpio Classic, these long tail lamps have returned once again.
Features
The Scorpio Classic’s feature set is adequate for a user who is interested in an off-road vehicle. The list includes a gear shift indicator on your TFT screen, Micro Hybrid Technology for fuel efficiency, Static Bending Technology in Headlamps for great transmission of light, and a 22.86-inch Touch Screen Infotainment System. With Bluetooth/USB/Aux with phone screen mirroring, Intellipark, Fully Automatic Climate Control, 6 Speakers, and 2 Tweeters, ORVM’s adjustment is manual for the lower trim and electric for the top end.
All the other features are carried forward from the last Scorpio S11, but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are missing this time. The resolution of the screen is also not as good as earlier. Mahindra is lowering prices to make it more affordable for Indian buyers.
Interior
The interior of the vehicle is the same as the earlier one. In the classic Scorpio, the interior is beige and black. The car is available with a seating configuration of

The nine-seat model has seating for three in the third row.
Because the base trim S is intended for regular areas, the 9-seat configuration is appropriate.
Engine, Power & Transmission
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic comes with a 2.2-liter mHAWK 4-cylinder CRDI diesel engine, a variable geometry turbocharger with an e-actuator, 4 valves per cylinder, and Common Rail Direct Injection Technology that produces the maximum gross power of 97 kW at 3750 r/min and a maximum gross torque of 300 Nm at 1600–2800 r/min. The gearbox is a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mahindra also worked on the gear by using mechanical linkage, which will help with the small throughput of gears and make gear shifting smoother. The fuel capacity is 60 liters. And the ARAI’s expected claimed mileage is 16.5 km/l. The Scorpio Classic does not have AWD, but it does have an RWD variant for both trims.
